I just sent my letter to the race director. I beleived the whole time that I was on pace for a sub 3:35 and my Boston Qualifier, diligently checking my splits and pace up to the 40k marker, only to be surprised when I came to the finish line. I really believe the last 2 kilometers were long.

looks like the other story about this has been deleted!
I and loads of others, and I mean loads, were running the half marathon and missed the loop in question completely. I am pretty sure it was coned off and no marshall at that point (I got there in around 1:20 after the start. Same thing with my wife 10 minutes behind, everyone in front and behind her did not do the loop. No marshall. Looks like they hit the panic button, sending someone there who did not know what was going on and started sending all runners that way. So …. a ton of the half marathon times are open to question (including mine which is frustrating) and the placings are completely screwed because no-one knows who took the shorter route.
Feel really sorry for the Boston missers. Big BOO to Running Room. Not necessarily for the mistake but for the disastrous lack of concern now they know what happened. If they can’t be man enough to apologise then take your money elsewhere.
Runners should know the route …. then what about the Running Room pace bunnies, they went the wrong way too. Maybe we should call them pace Lemmings.
Great route, crappy attitude from organisers. Who’s up for taking over this event from the RR for next year? Fresh Air Experience gets my vote

Apparently the winner went the right way, overtaking the people in front of him who didn’t!!!
Story from Kelowna.com
“… The 37-year-old runner and triathlete seemed pleasantly surprised by his finish, being his first time under the three-hour barrier. “I heard a couple got sidetracked up there,” he said afterwards. “I was in fifth and then all of a sudden passed a couple . . . I ended up first ….”

I was in the 10k walk and according to finishing times posted after the race,I finished second in my age group and 4th overall.Imagine my surprise when being awarded my medal that it was bronze rather than silver. The woman who apparently finished first in my age group had a guntime of 55 minutes but a chip time of 1:21.I can’t figure the math on that one.If the purpose of having a chip is more accurate timing then this woman finished well behind rather than ahead of me.The only way I can figure such a huge time discrepancy is if her chip was accidentally activated prior to the race. Moreover, she wasn’t even listed in the post race results until later in the day.I’d like to know the explanation for this!
