Shakespeare Kelowna Presents: Hamlet

Upcoming Dates:

The Shakespeare Kelowna Theatre Society returns to the Mary Irwin Theatre at The Rotary Center for The Arts in Kelowna to bring you "Hamlet" in February of 2010.

The Great King Hamlet is dead, leaving behind his Queen, Gertrude and his only son Prince Hamlet. Soon, to soon for many, the Queen remarries the Great King's brother, Claudius. But something is rotten in Denmark, and soon Prince Hamlet is visited by what looks to be his Father's Ghost. Thus begins the tale of Hamlet, and one of the greatest plays ever written in English Literature. The audience is brought along as Hamlet peels back layer after layer of lies and deception to reveal the ultimate truth about his Father's death and his own destiny.

Abridged for length, Shakespeare Kelowna's production of Hamlet is set in a post apocalyptic world where no man can be trusted. A land where women are the soldiers and men use guile and politic to enforce their will. Hamlet is directed by Cameron Gordon.
