Montreal police are on the scene of another firebombing that targeted an east-end café previously hit by a would-be arsonists earlier this month.
Authorities were called just after 4:30 a.m. Monday morning following a second incident at Café Danesi, in the city's Rivières-des-Prairies district.
“According to the security agent that was in the café, two suspects showed up in front of the store, one of them broke the window, and the second one threw an incendiary device inside,” said Const. Daniel Lacoursière.
Firefighters have extinguished the fire and are assessing the damage. The suspects are still at large.
Café Danesi was targeted in early November when someone threw a Molotov cocktail through the window — but the fuel never ignited.
It is one of several establishments hit by firebombs across the island in recent months.
Authorities suspect some of the attacks may be related to a Mafia or street-gang turf battle.
