North Vancouver RCMP say the skateboarder who was killed while riding on Mount Seymour Road would have celebrated her 28th birthday on Saturday.

Glenna Evans of Vancouver was killed Friday morning when she failed to complete a turn on her longboard, a skateboard more than one metre long, and collided with a van.

Police say Evans was an experienced longboard rider who had raced competitively in the past.

In a written statement, her family said Evans was an honours student at Emily Carr University, where she had finished her third year in the fine arts program, aiming for a bachelor of fine arts degree in the fall.
