The cash drawer at the Pandosy Street Subway restaurant is a little lighter now after a mid-morning robbery.

A scruffy-looking man believed to be in his 50s or 60s entered the eatery shortly before 11 a.m. and asked for cash from the two female employees inside. No weapon was produced, and he took about $120.

“He just pushed his way in and basically demanded money,” said Kelowna RCMP Const. Mike Dunn.

“They gave him money and he took off running.”

A police dog was quickly brought to the scene and other officers set up a perimeter in the area.

The man was wearing a dark bomber-style jacket over a grey hoody, which had white lettering on the back of it, along with black jeans and white sneakers. He had a short, grey beard, white hair and dirty hands.

A woman who lives nearby told police she saw the suspect standing across the street with his hood down while he watched the restaurant. He then crossed the street, put up his hood and went in.

Police are examining surveillance video to try to get a better description of the suspect.
