This year, the UBC Okanagan Heat produced 15 provincial all-stars, 14 national scholar athletes, 14 championship tournament all-stars, five All-Canadians, five Academic All-Canadians, two championship MVPs, two provincial Players of the Year, and a provincial Rookie of the Year. Volleyball player Alex Basso, a second-year university student and graduate of Kelowna’s Immaculata Regional High School, was named CCAA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year.

“Our student athletes are clearly at the top of their game,” said Rob Johnson, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “And members of our coaching staff were also recognized provincially and nationally, with Women’s Soccer Coach Claire Paterson winning Provincial Coach of the Year, and Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Greg Poitras winning Provincial and National Coach of the Year as well as the very prestigious National Coach of the Year Across all Sports Award.”
