Submitted The Okanagan Military Museum invites the public to pay a special visit in honour of Vimy Ridge Day which falls on Friday, April 9th. The public is encouraged to attend the Open House which will be held on Saturday April 10th, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Okanagan Military Museum at 1424 Ellis Street.
Vimy Ridge Day honours those Canadians who served in World War One, particularly the battle that took place on April 9, 1917 at Vimy Ridge in France. On that day, Canadians succeeded in doing what other allied forces had failed to do- they took Vimy Ridge.
The Okanagan Military Museum is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Beginning May 25th, the Museum will be open Tuesday through Saturday. Watch for more information on the official flag raising ceremony at the Museum on May 4th to honour the 2010 Canadian Naval Centennial Year.
