If Lord Baden Powell of Gillwell were still alive, he would be more than a bit upset at the news that Scout/Cub Camp Dunlop suffered significant damage at the hands of vandals late last week.

On March 27th, police received the disturbing news that all of the windows in the hall at Camp Dunlop had been smashed and that a stove pipe had been torn off the roof of the hall. Windows in two cabins were smashed out and entry was gained. The fire extinguishers were removed from the cabins and tossed through the hall windows. A number of stacking chairs were removed from a storage shed and also jammed through the hall window. The damage was well in excess of $5,000.

The damage is believed to have taken place between the evening of March 25th, and the early morning of March 27th, when it was discovered by camp staff.

RCMP Forensic Identification was not able to find any fingerprints, and no other evidence was available for investigation.

Surely if the authors of this mischief had the benefit of belonging to such a positive and worthwhile organization, this most likely would not have happened.

The investigation continues with respect to finding those responsible. If anyone has any information, please call the Kelowna Detachment or Crime Stoppers.
