Number of the day: 90. According to the Competition Bureau of Canada, that’s the percentage of real estate transactions in this country that go through the Multiple Listing Service which is a database owned and operated exclusively by realtors or members of the Canadian Real Estate Association. That’s not fair competition, according to the bureau, and big changes may be one the way. It’s one of those half truths of capitalism. Do something well and you may profit from it. Do it really well and you will be punished. Of course, if you ever had to pay realtor commissions, that’s a half-truth you can live with.
