Kelowna hockey lovers will have an extra chance at seeing some of the game’s top stars as the Kelowna Rockets have announced that the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings have added a second open practice to next week’s itinerary.
Originally scheduled to hit the ice only once while in the Okanagan, the likes of Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk, along with the rest of the Red Wings, will now practice twice at Prospera Place.
“We’re very excited that the Red Wings are coming to our city,” said Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to watch one of the best NHL organizations operate.”
The Red Wings will be in town as the team has a small break in their schedule between games against the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers.
Prospera Place will open their doors to fans both Wednesday and Thursday of next week beginning at 10 a.m., with the practice sessions set to begin at 11 a.m.
Admission into the practices is by donation to the Kelowna Community Foodbank.Red Wings open doors to Kelowna hockey lovers
