RCMP media release

When police pulled over a Silver Acura sedan for speeding, on March 6th, they did not expect to find a 15 year old behind the wheel.

A police officer on patrol observed the Acura traveling at 80 km/hr in a 50 km/h zone at around 1:00 a.m. The vehicle was stopped at Harvey and Richter and the officer found three 15 year old occupants inside, one of whom was the driver. The officer also detected the smell of liquor coming from the driver and so the officer performed a Roadside Alcohol Screening Device test which resulted in “warn” for the driver.

Even though the driver, a female from Abbotsford, did not have a valid licence, she was given a Violation ticket for No Driver’s Licence, as well as a 24 hour driving prohibition. This information will be documented by ICBC for when the unlicenced driver attempts to apply for a Driver’s Licence in the future.

The Acura was towed away and the driver was handed over to an adult guardian.

are you freaking serious??? how do you give a 24 hour suspension to someone without a driver’s license?? our laws are so messed up.

Seems to be a few charges missing here. Driving without a license, and underage drinking

You people need to really read carefully. Say it with me now “She was given a Violation Ticket for No Driver’s Licence”. Also “this information will be documented with ICBC for when the unlicenced driver attempts to apply for a Driver’s Licence in the future”. That’s why the police gave her a 24 hour suspension.

Doesn’t get any plainer than that.
