Kelowna RCMP media release

At just before 2 a.m. on March 7th, West Kelowna RCMP attended a residence, in the 1600 block of McNaughton Rd for a complaint of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police instead found a very large marijuana growing operation. A warrant was obtained and police seized over 1700 Marihuana Plants, that were growing in two large rooms in the residence. There were no occupants in the home, nor was there any evidence of any dispute. A large bag of dried Marihuana was found, and a Hydro Electrical Bypass was also discovered.

The investigation continues with respect to identifying and locating those involved in the grow op, says RCMP Const. Steve Holmes.

“Last week towards, the end of the week, we did do another marijuana grow operation and it was over 973 plants and that is considered large and this is twice that size so it is quite a substantial grow in comparison,” Holmes said. “Generally, we find grows between 200 and 500 plants. We do get the odd one that is larger but this is certainly among the largest single grow operation we have taken out in a residence.

“They were obviously very busy people.”
