RCMP media release

A 21-year-old Kelowna male was knocked senseless by a car door. The thief apparently took his money and his car keys.

This strange incident took place in the back alley of the 1000 block of Fuller Ave. just before 9 a.m. The victim was returning home to collect some things he needed for work. He parked his vehicle in his back alley driveway, beside a vehicle belonging to an acquaintance. As he exited his vehicle, he turned his back on the other vehicle, unaware that someone was inside it. The door to the other vehicle suddenly flew open, hitting the victim in the side of the head and knocking him to the pavement, stunning him momentarily. When the victim got back up, he could not find his car keys, nor the $20 he had in his hand when he got out of his vehicle.

Police brought in the Police Services Dog, but was unable to establish a track. The victim could not describe the suspect as he was knocked senseless by the door when he was hit, and did not see anyone. Though his car keys appear to have been taken by the culprit, his vehicle was not. The victim suffered a visible abrasion to the side of his head, but elected not to seek medical treatment. The owner of the other vehicle is presently not in the area.

Police are asking for information, if anyone saw a suspicious male in the back alley behind Fuller Ave. this morning, please call the Kelowna Detachment at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers.

This is a funny sory, as the one published in castanet is inconsistent with this one. If this guy didn’t see who was in the car, then how do they know that it was a male? In the story in castanet, the guy said that it was a homeless guy that was in the car because he doesn’t know why anyone else would be in the car….. how about a car theif? Gimme a break. The media will publish anything. Must be a slow news day

If he was a car thief, why did he steal the guy’s keys and not his car? It was pretty cold last night. I’d be sleeping in a car if I had nowhere else to go.
