Josie Evans memorial set for Saturday

A memorial will be held Saturday for the teenage girl who was struck down walking home from school in Lake Country.

Josie Evans friends and family are planning to gather at George Elliot Secondary School then walk to the site of her death at Bottom Wood Lake Road, where they will let off purple and white helium balloons at 4:30 p.m.

The event will mark the one month anniversary of Evans’ death.

Around 4:30 p.m. Jan. 13, the 15-year-old sustained fatal injuries when hit by a car.

Following her death, Evan’s friends and family have lobbied to have sidewalks and street lights installed along A memorial bursary fund in her honourĀ  has been set up with the Central Okanagan Foundation.

Donations can be made by mailing a cheque to the Central Okanagan Foundation at #217 – 1889 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5V5 or by donating on-line at the COF website, follow the links to the Canada Helps web portal.
