Three winter Olympians are among the finalists for the 37th Canadian Sport Awards.

The True Sport Foundation announced Sunday that snowboarder Jasey Jay Anderson and speedskater Charles Hamelin are up for the male athlete of the year, while speedskater Christine Nesbitt is a finalist for female athlete-of- the-year honours.

Also vying for the top male award is alpine skier John Kucera, who won't be competing at the Vancouver Olympics after breaking his leg in November.

Joining Nesbitt as finalists are swimmer Annamay Pierse and fencer Sherraine Schalm.

"The annual Canadian Sport Awards is the ideal time to honour our amateur athletes," said Victor Lachance, executive director of the True Sport Foundation. "It will be a great way to cap off the thrill of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and get revved up for the Paralympic Games."

The men's IIHF world championship squad, national women's water polo team, and mixed wheelchair curling team are the three finalists for team of the year.

The awards ceremony will take place on March 3 in Toronto.

Other finalists include:

Biathlete Kurtis Wenzel, speedskater Marianne St-Gelais and sprinter Aaron Brown in the junior category.

Partners of the year nominees are the para nordic ski team of Brian and Robin McKeever, Canada's men's eights rowing team, and speedskaters Kristina Groves, Nesbitt and Brittany Schussler.
