RCMP media release

An elderly woman suffered an apparent  fatal cardiac event, while she was driving her vehicle in the parking area of the Capri Mall today.

The 83-year-old Kelowna resident had just entered the Capri Mall parking area, in her Grey Cadillac sedan, at 10:40 a.m.  Witnesses said that the vehicle stopped and then reversed slowly, until it struck a concrete pillar outside the Winner’s store.

Ambulance and emergency crews attended, but were unable to revive the woman, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation concluded that her demise likely preceded the collision as there appeared to be no other causal factors in the incident.

Her name is being with held until all next of kin have been notified. The investigation is now in the hands of the Coroner’s service.
