A natural-gas processing plant proposed by EnCana Corp. in northeastern B.C. has received eco-approval from Victoria. The provincial government has granted an environmental assessment certificate to the Cabin Gas Plant project to be located 60 kilo-metres northeast of Fort Nelson.

EnCana plans to build the facility "capture ready" and to explore capture and storage options, the government said. The plant is expected to cost $800 million to $1 billion and create hundreds of jobs.

I have lived in Fort Nelson for a number of years, and I’m pleased to here “Major Projects” like this being announced as it will obviouly create growth for Fort Nelson.
It will provide opportunities for both residents and local businesses.
It is encouraging to see that not only is Fort Nelson recognized for it’s Forestry resource it is also tied to the strength of Oil/Gas which is the future of our community.
