Kelowna Actors Studio (KAS) is pleased to present On Broadway: A Musical Revue Feb. 11-March 7. This revue will feature more than 35 songs from many of the Tony-award winning musicals you’ve come to love.
Unforgettable gems from South Pacific (Some Enchanted Evening), The Lion King (Circle of Life), La Cage Aux Folles (I am What I am), Man of La Mancha (The Impossible Dream), Mamma Mia (Winner Takes it All), Evita (Don’t Cry for me Argentina), and many more will be featured in this show. If you hum these tunes in the shower and listen to them on the radio, you can’t miss this extravaganza!
The multi-talented cast – many of whom you have come to love – includes: Gwen Plitt (Maria in the Sound of Music), Nathan Flavel (Don from Singin’ in the Rain), Kelly Whelan (Vera from Mame), Randy Leslie (Don Quixote from Man of La Mancha), Ashleigh Somerville (Sarah Brown from Guys and Dolls), Scott Lawler (Older Patrick in Mame), Carmen Harris (Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz), Chad Abrahamson (Leo in The Producers), Gillian Reed (Cinderella from Cinderella), and Tracy Ross (Spiderwoman from Kiss of the Spiderwoman).
With gorgeous vocal arrangements, sizzling orchestrations and delightfully inventive staging, this night is sure to be filled with humour, romance, drama, non-stop melodies and brassy, insightful lyrics celebrating the story of Broadway!
Directed by Randy Leslie, On Broadway will also feature musical direction by Gwen Plitt, costume design by Joy Green and Sonja Janzen, choreography and set design by Nathan Flavel, stage management by Ted Harrison, sound design by Jordan Leboe, set decor by Norene Morrow, props by James Long, and hair and makeup by Chelsey Chase. This show is sure to be a hit so don’t delay in picking up your tickets. If you missed the rain on stage from Singin’ in the Rain, you’ll get your second chance during this show, along with an innovative set design and a kaleidoscope of projections and moving pictures created by Nathan Flavel.
