Future generations of UBCO students will look to the rafters and say, “Damn, 2009 was a good year for UBCO sports.”

Not only did the women’s volleyball team add both provincial and national championship banners earlier this month, but the men’s basketball team also did a little decorating of their own several weeks ago.

Prior to their game against the Columbia Bible College last year’s co-captains, Jon Zaleski and Aron Balakrishnan, raised the banner to the rafters, as their teammates and coaches from last season and this season, plus several hundred fans, cheered them on.

The team looks to be on a similar path this year, with a record of 6-1.
