Singer Ashleigh Sommerville has a lot to look forward to this holiday season.
The performer is hosting not one, but two, CD release parties in Kelowna featuring her CD Peace, Love, Joy–Ashleigh Sommerville at Christmas.
“I’m so grateful for the incredibly positive response and support I’ve received from the community,” says Sommerville. “For one thing, I’m thrilled that SILK FM and its affiliates have been playing the first track off my CD, Joe the Snowman.
“It’s so, so fun to hear a song you’ve written playing on the radio.”
Sommerville grew up in Vernon and continued her education at a school for the arts in Toronto. She also studied classical piano and voice at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
“I moved on to studying and performing jazz after classical, then started to develop my own style when I picked up the tenor guitar a few years ago,” she says. “My just-released Christmas CD is eclectic in style but definitely leans in the jazz direction.”
Sommerville’s CD release shows take place Dec. 11 from 7-10 p.m. at the Greenroom Restaurant and Dec. 17 from 8-11 p.m. as part of Jazz Cafe at the Blackbox Theatre.
