After showdown against Brodeur, Luongo is coy about how he'll handle the load

The answer was obvious even before Roberto Luongo answered the question.

When the Vancouver Canucks open a four-game road trip on Wednesday in New Jersey, you can bet the starter will salivate at the chance to match goaltending wits with Martin Brodeur. It will be a sideshow because they are the frontrunners to backstop Team Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. But what about the next night? What about that game in Philadelphia? Wouldn't that be a good game to give backup Andrew Raycroft another start before facing Carolina on Saturday?

Is that the plan?

"I don't know," said Luongo.

The starting question aside, even Luongo can see what's keeping the Canucks from climbing the Western Conference standings. Instead of pushing to send Sunday's contest with San Jose into overtime, the Canucks fell 4-1 and have only gone to the extra session twice, the lowest in the NHL.

"We've got to find a way to tie that game up somehow," Luongo said of the Sharks setback. "We're not bringing many games to overtime this year and our second period cost us again."
