The Salmon Arm Chargers claimed the SIFC championship title on Sunday by downing the Kelowna Blazers 38-15.
It was the final game after after plenty of action on the gridiron Sunday as the Southern Interior Football Conference held their championship games at the Mission turf field in four age divisions with teams competing for a spot in the provincial semi-finals to be held next week.
In the first two games the Mission Vipers defeated the Vernon Bombers 40-6 in the Atom age division and the Peewee Mission Lions took down the Salmon Arm Colts by a final score of 40-8.
Later in the day the Kelowna Dragons met the Westside Huskies for the Junior Bantam title and in the Bantam age group the Salmon Arm Chargers and the Kelowna Blazers did battle. The Blazers lost 38-15.
While the Mission Lions will host Chilliwack next Sunday back in their provincial semi at the Mission turf field, the other winners will move on in the playoffs in the Lower Mainland.
