The B.C. Lions came up short – way short – as they fell 56-18 to the Montreal Alouettes in the crossover East CFL Final game sunday afternoon held at Olympic Stadium.

Lions QB Casey Printers, the revitalized hero in the Lions semi-final win last weekend over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats was unable to lead the offense to another victory and B.C. found themselves plagued by costly turnovers that resulted in 21 points for the Alouettes when all was said and done.

Printers was sacked three times in the game, and four of the five turnovers the Als defense forced out of B.C. resulted in touchdowns.

Down 31-11 at halftime, the Lions Ryan Grice-Mullin scored a TD off a 105-yard punt return to get them back within 13 points and give them a glimmer of hope, but on their next drive Montreal veteran QB Anthony Calvillo and the Alouettes offense had a ready answer, marching downfield and before he hit receiver Brian Bratton for his second TD of the game.

Jamel Richardson had an outstanding game for Montreal, scoring a trio of majors from a pair of passes and taking a blocked punt to paydirt as well.

Calvillo threw for more than 300 yards and a total of five touchdowns, which ties him with several others for the CFL league playoff record.

The Alouettes will move on the face the green machine in the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 97th Grey Cup to be held in Calgary Nov. 29.

Saskatchewan earned their spot in the classic game with 27-17 win over the defending champion Calgary Stampeders in the West Division final held in Regina Sunday.
