Simon Brault is the CEO of the National Theatre School of Canada. Today I'm on Parliament Hill, attending meetings and changing hats as I go along. First, I'll wear my Canada Council hat (I'm in my second five-year mandate as vice-chair), followed by my familiar National Theatre School hat for my lunch with NTS board chair Jodi White. Later, I'll don my brand new author's cap: I'm presenting my book, Le Facteur C, to an assembly of cultural experts. I've been visiting Ottawa regularly for the past 25 years; however, I have noticed that my different responsibilities now bring me to culturally upbeat Toronto more often. Ottawa equals work for me, even though it has fabulous museums, a National Arts Centre and two restaurants that I truly enjoy (I'm a Montrealer and I'm picky). Ottawa is Canada's political hub and culture is — or must become — a serious contender in Canadian politics. And that's my job!
