Celebrity Sizzle by Mark Stone

Last night at the Richard Branson “Rock the Kasbah” event in LA, Lindsay Lohan was seen rocking two different hairstyles and facial expressions, each with their own distinct look. The first (below), a photo with Paula Abdul, is more of a throwback to the non-medicated Lindsay we came to know and (perhaps) love. The second (above) is vintage current Lindsay – looking 30 years older and not entirely sober.

How can this be? The only logical reason for this is the evil twin cliché. How else can we explain these two opposing looks in the same night? Take a look at the two photos and let me know what you think. Same person?

One also must wonder how the photo op with her and Paula Abdul came to be. Wouldn’t you have loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation? It’s crazy chicken and crazier chicken; could you imagine the dialogue these two would come up with in speaking with each other? C’mon Harvey Levin, I’m counting on you to get audio for us by the end of this week.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s relationship is doomed

Talk about bad omens. First, any marriage that begins with a month-long prenup negotiation isn’t likely to make it past the two-year mark (I’m just throwing that number out there). Second, almost all Hollywood marriages in which one or both parties ink their spouse’s name or initials somewhere on their body ends up in divorce court. But Khloe and Lamar are obviously not superstitious, because getting tattoos of each other’s initials are exactly what these two did over the weekend.

On her blog, Khloe says, “I’m definitely a believer in tattoos as long as they are thoughtful and have significant meaning, which all of mine do. On my wrist I have ‘I love you’ in my father’s handwriting and on my lower back I have a cross and angel wings with ‘Daddy’ written above it in honor of my father and now I have my husband’s initials ‘LO’.  Tattoos are something you’ll have for the rest of your life so it’s important to get one that truly means something to you.”

Khloe even posted the pics of the tattoos on her blog. I’m assuming Khloe posted the pics on her blog possibly to prove her undying love for Lamar. That, or because she has friends in the divorce pool for this sham of a marriage and wants to protect her piece of the pie. And you thought she wasn’t too clever…

Are the Letterman, Leno and Conan productions sexist?

In a fascinating two-page piece written for the Vanity Fair website today, writer Nell Scovell discusses her experiences as a writer for Late Night With David Letterman. The piece starts like this: “At this moment, there are more females serving on the United States Supreme Court than there are writing for Late Show with David Letterman, The Jay Leno Show, and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien combined. Out of the 50 or so comedy writers working on these programs, exactly zero are women.”

Wow. How sad is it that we’re almost in 2010 and such blatant sexism that flourished in the 60s Mad Men era still exists today? Really, 0 for 50? The Emmys and the Oscars have embraced female writing (with recent award wins for Tina Fey, Diablo Cody and Sophia Coppola to name a few), which is a step in the right direction but there is obviously a big problem that doesn’t seem to be going away. We’ve all heard of the Old Boys Club, and it exists in almost each and every industry. But with Hollywood writers? That’s the last place you’d expect to find it.

The piece also touches upon the Letterman sex scandal. Take a few moments to read it.

Bad week to believe in Xenu

Yesterday we had news that Paul Haggis, a longtime member of the Church of Scientology, has denounced the religion based on writings from L. Ron Hubbard. Today it is being reported that a Paris court has convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than $900,000 (US). Investigators said the group pressured members into paying large sums of money for questionable financial gain and used “commercial harassment” against recruits. The court stopped short of a complete banning of the Church, as prosecutors had demanded. In France, Scientology is classified as a sect, or cult.

I did some more research, and got some more details on the incident. It appears as if one of the women had been approached to take a ‘personality test’ in the street and was then pressured into buying a bunch of crap, including an electrometer to measure mental energy. The other was forced to undergo testing and undertake expensive courses by her Scientologist employer, and was fired when she eventually refused.

Doesn’t this make you wonder why so many Hollywood celebs are taking part in this? What is wrong with these people? Scientology’s claims of measuring stress and mental energy, and worse, claims that money can improve your mental energy is shaky at best. The more you read about all this the more you end up scratching your head. You know how many hair follicles I’ve lost already this morning? Can I bill The Church for my loss of mental energy? Oh, the irony.

Scarlett Johansson inadvertently explains why she’s hotter than Megan Fox

Scarlett Johansson, known for being cast in “sexy” roles, is heading to Broadway for her crack at live theatre. The 24-year-old actress will appear alongside Liev Schreiber in an adaptation of Arthur Miller’s ‘A View from the Bridge’, which will run in New York’s famous theatre district. Johansson will play the role of 17-year-old Catherine, who uses her looks to get what she wants.

When asked about her sex appeal, Scarlett explains, “I don’t think about being sexy or being seductive. What you don’t want to see is somebody trying to be sexy. That’s the most unsexy thing.”

Is this a dig at Megan Fox? It would certainly make sense. Let’s declare it as such and hope for a rebuttal. Johansson vs. Fox: the hotness debate. Whose side are you on? Team Scarlett or Team Megan?
