Today is your last chance to help the Kelowna Gospel Mission gather donations for its Stuff the Bus campaign.

The event, which sees city buses located at Wal-Marts in West Kelowna and Kelowna jam packed with warm clothing donations, ran over Saturday and will end today at 6 p.m.

“This bus could fill before the end of today,” said Bruce Fedirchuk of the Gospel Mission on Saturday. “I think we may need a bigger bus.”

Organizers are hoping this third annual event will be as successful as it has been in the past because the Gospel Mission is going to need it. Fedirchuk says the Mission is already nearing capacity in terms of overnight stays.

They may be granted their wish. Thanks to the opening of the West Kelowna Wal-Mart (2170 Louie Dr.), they have two communities to draw from. Buses will be at both stores today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The organization is looking for donations of blankets, jackets, gloves, men’s jeans, long underwear, all ages undergarments, socks and other items to benefit the needy during the colder months. They are also accepting donations of everyday toiletries, gift cards for groceries and other items useful to the impoverished.

Those wishing to donate at any time, can do so through Kelowna’s Gospel Mission office at 251B Leon Ave. or by calling 250-763-3737.
