Jay-Z's first Canadian stop in Edmonton was a success. Expect more of the same tomorrow for Kelowna. (photo contributed)

Last night, Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 tour made its first Canadian stop in Edmonton before moving to Calgary tonight, Kelowna tomorrow and Vancouver on Friday. I spoke with Jay’s people this morning and they tell me that the show was a tremendous success and that he “loves Canada”. He is looking forward to seeing Kelowna and giving us a show we won’t soon forget.
The Edmonton Sun reviewed the show and called it “an expression of pure joy,” and “a big rock show disguised as a rap show — or is it the other way around?” Tonight Jay-Z rocks the Saddledome in Calgary.
Our Calgary readers will want to know that the afterparty is being held at The Whiskey on 10th Ave. Tomorrow’s afterparty (like all after parties, hosted by Memphis Bleek) in town will be held at Flashbacks, and you won’t want to miss it. I’ve been told that last night’s big afterparty in Edmonton was so chaotic, Jay-Z wasn’t even able to perform. Jay-Z showed up at the club hoping to perform a track or two, but was mobbed by fans that wanted to get a close-up glimpse of the famous rapper/music mogul. The scene became “too chaotic” for him to perform, but Bleek, Kay M and DJ Mell Starr kept the party going and I’m told everyone went home happy.
The Blueprint tour plays Kelowna tomorrow night at Prospera Place at 8 pm, and you can get your tickets online here . I’ve confirmed with Flashbacks that tickets for the afterparty are $15 at the door, and doors open at 9 pm.
