When your nickname goes stale, what’s a girl to do? Jennifer Lopez, obviously fed up with being referred to as J-Lo, has decided to shed the overused moniker and go with something different. Her new handle? Lola.

I’d be more willing to embrace this new name of hers if only her first single was any good, but Lola’s new song probably won’t do anything to change her declining sales numbers of recent years. Despite featuring successful artist Pitbull along with production duties by Kelowna-bound Pharrell Williams (his band N.E.R.D. opens for Jay-Z), the song, Fresh Out The Oven, sounds anything but fresh. Normally anything that Pharell touches in the studio comes out sounding great, but this joint is as stale as the J Lo name.

Time to go back to the kitchen, rearrange the ingredients, and put it back in the oven. Maybe the remixes will sound fresh.

What do you think? Curious to hear your comments.

Kanye wasn’t the only stagecrasher at the VMAs

Everybody is still talking about Kanye’s antics at the VMA’s last month. His bonehead move even cost him what would have been a successful tour with Lady GaGa. But did you know that Kanye wasn’t the only one who jumped up on stage uninvited?

As Jay-Z and Alicia Keys were performing Jay’s song Empire State of Mind, rapper Lil’ Mama rushed the stage for no apparent reason. Jay-Z wasn’t impressed; but instead of losing his cool he simply chose to ignore her as if she were invisible. The video is great – the person posting the clip slows it down to show Jay’s priceless reaction.

Word on the street is that Kanye will be joining Lil’ Mama on their own tour – the Rush The Stage Tour, where audience members are free to jump on stage, steal the mic and say whatever they like. For these two, at least in the near future, that’s the only way they’ll be selling any tickets.

Heroes resorts to lesbian kiss to boost ratings

Remember when the show Heroes was good? I gave up long ago, but diehard fans still holding on are complaining about the downhill slide the show is taking story and quality wise.

Not oblivious to fan reaction, NBC is taking action by doing what they believe to be their last resort: writing a lesbian kiss into the proceedings. In a press release regarding the ratings-challenged show, the network describes next Monday’s show as containing a storyline where “Claire (Hayden Panettiere) discovers that her roommate Gretchen (guest star Madeline Zima) may have a hidden agenda.” Also contained in the release? A picture of the two actresses engaged in a kiss.

It is bound to boost ratings, but how long can they keep it up? This reeks of desperation, and is a sure sign that NBC will do anything for ratings. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

The only time to ever side with Nancy Grace

Of all the people in the media, the person I despise the most is CNN host Nancy Grace. I’d rather watch Jon and Kate for an hour than put up with five minutes of this woman.

But when Jon Gosselin himself appeared with Grace on The Insider yesterday, for the first time ever I agreed with Nancy Grace. Where previous interviewers used the kid gloves with him, Grace went for the jugular and accused him of being the self-serving jerk that everyone in the world but him believes the guy to be.

Good for her, and I gotta give credit where credit it due. Though now that I think about it, I couldn’t think of a better couple than these two. They’re perfect for each other. Jon should dump that loser Michael Lohan as a potential co-host for that dumb show they’ve been planning and just join forces with Nancy Grace instead. I have no idea what their show could be called, but The Two Most Annoying People On The Face Of The Earth is probably a tad too long for CNN.

Any ideas for a show title if these two ever got together? Jon and Nancy plus their overinflated egos? The Pot and Kettle Show?

    Lola sounds boring and old.
JLo is much better, and i heard the new song and even have a copy but it doesn’t attack the audience it’s like an old kind of music. try to make something that make people turn their head when they heard the music… ;)

Best example is the new music of Britney Spears called ‘3′… When you hear the beat you like dancing alreday… ;)

I know probably a little late on this however, just want to note that this season of ‘Heroes’ is actually somewhat enjoyable – just watch the last episode of last season and then you could probably jump right back in. With the addition of Robert Knepper of ‘Prison Break’ and Deanna Bray from ‘L Word’ – am becoming a happy fan of the show again – it’s definetly not season 1, however, this season is looking promising.
