The occupants of a car that burst into flames on Black Mountain got a scare, but nothing else Wednesday afternoon.
The woman driving the car said the engine suddenly started smoking, so she and and a passenger quickly pulled over and jumped out.
Police, paramedics and firefighters responded to the incident on Begley Road near Gran Road at about 4:30 p.m. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the Pontiac Grand Am sedan was a write-off.
No cause has been established for the fire.
