If you're worried that your bank card has been compromised, all you can do is check your bank statement. (Photo contributed)
Hundreds of debit cards have been violated in the most recent fraud wave to sweep Kelowna, according to the RCMP.
The cards were compromised through the use of fraudulent PIN pads connected to point-of-sales terminals in Kelowna and West Kelowna.
Still, police are not disclosing the names of the businesses for unspecified reasons. People are instead being reminded to check their bank statements for any untoward activity,
The cops are also asking businesses to make sure PIN pads are secured to a solid surface or put them in a safe, out-of-reach place when not in use.
Both of the local police detachments are working now working on the matter with the RCMP’s Southeast District Commercial Crime unit.

Typical of those in authority to HIDE the identity of these businesses who lack the skills for basic security of the pin pads. maybe if the consumer KNEW how lax these business were with the pin pads, they would shop elsewhere. maybe then these businesses would get the message!!
