Now that Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is releasing the taped conversations he had with Michael Jackson, we’re getting a new insight into the King Of Pop’s mindset. Which is why the Rabbi is said to be publishing these tapes in the first place. Shmuley maintains Jackson wanted the footage to be released to the public so his fans could gain a better understanding of his personal life. Could be, but one has to wonder whether his motives aren’t entirely selfish.

Either way, the tapes are made public – so we get to see what MJ was thinking. Apparently he thought about Madonna quite a bit, but not exactly in a flattering way. He says of the Material Girl: “I think she likes shock value and she knows how to push buttons on people. I think she was sincerely in love with me and I was not in love with her. She did a lot of crazy things. I knew we had nothing in common.”

He then goes on to describe his definition of ‘sexy’, and how Madonna fails to make the grade. “She is not sexy at all. I think sexy comes from the heart in the way you present yourself.” Jackson even accuses her of being jealous of his fame.

Madonna has a reputation of being incredibly shrewd and selfish, and this news doesn’t surprise me. What surprised me was when MTV chose her to deliver the opening dedication to MJ for their VMAs earlier this month. If you saw it, you’d recall that it was more about her than anything else.

So how is Madonna going to deal with this? Since she’s overly spiritual (I’m all for spirituality but some people take it too far), I assume that she believes in past and future lives. You just know that current-life Madonna is already plotting revenge for next-life Madonna to wreak havoc on future-life Michael Jackson in some sort of pop star mega battle in the year 2100.

Megan Fox upstaged on SNL by new cast member Jenny Slate

What’s everyone talking about today? Two things: the Khloe Kardashian/Lamar Odum wedding (which we’ll get to in a minute) and the accidental F-bomb dropped on SNL by new cast member Jenny Slate.

We fast-forwarded through the season premiere of SNL, and it’s sad when the night’s best moment comes from a screw-up on one of the show’s latter skits. If you haven’t seen the YouTube video yet, you can see it here, but because it does contain the F-bomb I won’t embed it directly.

Everyone is making a big deal out of this, and there are countless versions of the slip-up on YouTube. SNL head-honcho Lorne Michaels is probably thrilled for the additional publicity, because the show was one huge bomb and even Megan Fox couldn’t save it. The writing was terrible, the comedy was severely lacking and U2 wasn’t all that exciting either. You gotta wonder whether they knew they were drowning (the show is live) and someone told her to mess up on purpose. I doubt it, but it would certainly make sense.

Want to now what’s really F’d up about this whole thing though? Here we are, almost in the year 2010, and we still have the FCC ready to investigate an actress using a four-letter word after midnight, even though kids can see much worse on the Internet 24 hours a day. Anyone under the age of 18 probably couldn’t care less about SNL, but more of them saw the video on Youtube than had they been watching the show. Like the never-ending Nipplegate (which is still in the court system), I hope this one gets put to rest ASAP.

Think the Odum/Kardashian wedding is real? Think again

The most popular celebrity topic on all the sites today is that “wedding” of reality star Khloe Kardashian and basketballer Lamar Odum. If they hadn’t been dating for a mere matter of weeks, perhaps I’d be more convinced. But because the E! film crew for Khloe’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians show was on hand to film every detail, forgive me if I’m just a wee bit skeptical as to the veracity of this marital union.

To prove my point, Ryan Seacrest himself (he produces the Kardashian show) admitted that this wedding was all about business. Take a look at an interview he gave just before the festivities began. I commend him for poking fun at his own stature.

In other Kardashian related news… even from a helicopter, man – Kim Kardashian’s ass looks huge! Isn’t it funny how these pappers from Flynet cared more about getting some aerial shots of sister Kim’s booty than the bride?

Behold… the grand booty.

6 books that Jay-Z lives by

Speaking of things that are bootilicious, the man that is married to Beyonce, Jay-Z, has shared with Oprah’s O Magazine the six books that he lives by.

Speaking about the book The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav, Jay has some great words of wisdom of his own: “I believe in karma and doing the right thing even if it may not advance you as far as you want. If every single person felt the same way about karma and intention, then the world gets fixed tomorrow.”

The dude has a way with words, and Kelowna is lucky enough to hear his words being rapped for a hot show coming up at Prospera Place on October 15th. Keep your browsers locked to kelowna.com for all the Jay-Z info – this concert is going to be hot.

Is Mary Louise Parker a homewrecker?

Say it isn’t so, Nancy Botwin. Weeds star Mary Louise Parker, whose husband Billy Crudup left her for Claire Danes, is now being accused of stealing another woman’s man. Apparently Parker has snatched away 25-year old Charlie Mars from Lindsey Brown, a journalist for a Mississippi TV station.

In an email entitled “Cougar Goes Too Far,” (love the title) one irate tipster claims Parker’s a man-stealing tart:

“Readers may find it interesting that actress Mary Louise Parker who was dumped late in her pregnancy five years ago went on to rip apart the three year relationship of her new boyfriend Charlie Mars and his then 25 year old Mississippi girlfriend.

Early June Mars was still in a relationship with news anchor Lindsey Brown who is a journalist in Meridian Mississippi. Mars and Brown met while Brown was finishing up college at the University of Mississippi. It was Brown who helped Mars move through his substance/drug abuse problems he has battled for the last decade.

You would think a woman who suffered so greatly at the hands of a man would work to make sure other women aren’t betrayed the same way…”

Sounds to me like a war between the twentysomethings and the cougars. Remember that horrid reality show Age of Love, when tennis star Mark Philippoussis had to chose between the young’ens and the cougars? There is a resurgence of cougars in pop culture (Cougar Town is pretty darn funny and is looking like a hit), and it’s obviously making its way into real life.

Stealing another woman’s guy isn’t the nicest thing, but to blame her for going young shouldn’t ruffle anyone’s feathers. To hell with the double standard: let the cougars be. Twenty-something guy are getting something out of it too, and you can’t argue with a win-win.

New Nightmare on Elm Street trailer released

The remake might suck, but the trailer sure looks great. Enjoy.

The speech was not about Madonna. It was about finding commmon ground from star to star. Then It was finding common ground from human being to human being. Then it was stating common ground from fan to star, star to human being. We are all human beings and NOBODY should be treated the way MJ was treated via the media and then his fickle friends and fans and family. We are all human beings. The media is a horrible terror in many ways. It can terrorize someone and their lives over the littlest stupidest things from the flip flops their wearing to accusations of the worst kind (and this type of boring journalism is not even journalism at all and comes from people who barely passed their exams when studying journalism.) and can really wreck a person. Such as this article.

Completely agree with Manna, Madonna’s speech was completely appropriate and in my opinion perfect.

The “I assume that she believes in past and future lives” thing was cringe-worthy. Do you even know the meaning of spirituality?

    Hey Nathan,

While I disagree with you about Madonna’s speech, I value your comments. My comment about her past and future lives was, like much of my column, tongue-in-cheek. In the world of celebrity it’s very hard to take anything seriously – yet shows like The Insider and ET do it all the time. I try to have fun with it and give people a chuckle once in a while.

Whereas Perez Hilton goes too far, I try not to offend anyone though I am well aware that you can’t please everyone.

I think Michael Jackson and his gay partner Luka Magnotta should have come out of the closet and showed the world who they really were and how much they loved each other… Luka is only 24yrs old though, so it might be hard.

What an embarrassing article. Mark Stone nor I will ever know what it is like to be these people and deal with the sort of fame, scrutiny, and intensity that both stars have felt. His lo-brow article and take on spirituality coupled with the later coverage on Chloe Kardashian’s wedding sort of explain why there aren’t real stars anymore and pop culture is in the toliet–mediocrity!

Hey guys! Well in my opinion this article about MJ is totally embarrasing and silly. In my sight there are some people who do not want MICHAEL JACKSON to rest in peace and may be that is the reason of making such ridiculious article
