Actor Brad Pitt was honoured on Thursday for his humanitarian work in helping rebuild hurricane-ravaged New Orleans at former U.S. President Bill Clinton’s philanthropic summit, the Clinton Global Initiative. Pitt was presented with a plaque from the U.S. Green Building Council which said the actor and his foundation “Make It Right” had created the “largest and greenest single-family community in the world.”

You’re being spoofed, gals!

Watch out Britney, Octomom and Paris! Shows spoofing your fame are piling up faster than celebrity magazines in a hair salon, and they include a stage musical and animated TV programs. Popzilla, the latest show to declare open season on Hollywood celebrities and their reality TV kissing cousins, will premiere on cable television’s MTV on Monday.

Randy Quaid, wife arrested

Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi were arrested on Thursday following a complaint that they had not paid a hotel bill of more than $10,000, according to U.S. authorities. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the complaint was made in early September by a hotel in California and warrants to arrest the couple were issued as part of a criminal investigation.

35 years after Chinatown

Few screenwriters exemplified the renaissance in Hollywood filmmaking that took place in the 1970s more than Robert Towne. Scripts such as The Last Detail made him a rising star among writers. When Chinatown, which was directed by Roman Polanski, hit theaters in 1974 it won Towne an Oscar, and has become a classic tale of crime, corruption and sordid family affairs.

Armani taking care of himself

Fashion designer Giorgio Armani is reshuffling his agenda to take better care of himself after a bout of hepatitis and will soon announce changes at his company, he told Women’s Wear Daily in an interview. Armani, widely regarded as the doyen of Italian fashion, did not give details, only saying there will be “some change from a managerial perspective — moves and promotions — that will be announced shortly,” the publication quoted him saying.

The 75 year-old, often called “King Giorgio” in Italian media, revealed in May he had suffered hepatitis.

Mayor: I was right, sort of . . .

Vienna’s mayor has defended his decision to support a Michael Jackson tribute concert in the Austrian capital which was later scrapped and admitted the project had been badly organized. Organizers, led by Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson, cancelled the concert earlier this month after struggling to get top stars to perform at short notice.
