In an exclusive interview with Larry King, singer Chris Brown sat down with his mom, his lawyer and Larry King over the weekend for a taping of King’s show to air this Wednesday. In the interview, Brown says he doesn’t remember anything from that night and states that he and Rihanna will always be friends. His mother also chimed in and told Larry that Chris has no past history with violence. We know that this is not true because of recent reports that the two have had altercations before in Europe and Barbados.

The just-over-one-minute clip is making the rounds on the Internet today and I thought I would share it with you here so you can see what boldface lying looks like.

Let’s for a moment assume that Brown is telling the truth, and that he can’t remember anything. Remember that he was driving the car at the time of the beating. If he can’t recall being violent, doesn’t that make him culpable for a motor vehicle crime? Was he drunk or high? Is that why he can’t remember anything? I really hope he’s not using the “I just blacked out” defense.

In the event he honestly doesn’t remember what happened that night, he can go here to see the police report of what went down. You’d think that when you threaten to kill someone you’d remember it. This guy should be in jail. And if not real jail, then TV interview jail, for failing to come up with anything better than: “I’m like, it’s crazy to me. I’m like, wow. I just look at it like, wow. I’m in shock, because that’s not who I am as a person…I don’t know what to think. It’s just like, wow.”

Mickey Mouse now owns Spider Man and Iron Man

In a completely unexpected move this morning, Disney announced that it was buying out Marvel Entertainment. The deal is apparently worth about $4 billion.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said of the deal: “We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation.”

Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel, agrees. “Disney is the perfect home for Marvel’s fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses. This is an unparalleled opportunity for Marvel to build upon its vibrant brand and character properties by accessing Disney’s tremendous global organization and infrastructure around the world,” Perlmutter says.

Perlmutter, who owns 37% of the company, stands to personally gain about $1.5 billion in cash and stock. Nice.

But are the comic book fanboys going to be happy now that their comic book heroes are going to be Disney-fied? How much influence will The Mouse have on big names like Iron Man and Spider Man? Honestly, I don’t think it’s going to make a big difference. Remember that at one time Disney owned Miramax, which produced several Kevin Smith movies and many other R-rated films. Disney didn’t flex its muscles at all back then, and I wouldn’t expect them to change much in the Marvel world. All this does is make Disney an even more influential player in Hollywood.

Jason Bateman talks Arrested Development movie

Star of recent hits Juno and Hancock and the future comedy Couples Retreat (whose trailer shows in front of every single movie I’ve seen this summer) Jason Bateman spoke with E!’s The Awful Truth about the upcoming Arrested Development film.

When asked how the humor will translate from the small screen to the big screen, Bateman had a great answer: “I think it’s a little bit more appropriate than [watching from] your couch where you can get distracted. Hopefully being in a dark theater where you’re somewhere locked in will be helpful in appreciating the density of [creator] Mitch Hurwitz’s writing. If you miss just a little bit of what he’s saying or doing, you might miss about twelve jokes.”

How true. In any given episode, I’m pretty sure that the average person probably misses about twelve jokes. Put this theory to the test: go rent one of the seasons from the show and watch an episode you’ve already seen once or twice. I guarantee you’ll find many laughs you didn’t catch the first time. Arrested Development was genius, and it will be so nice to see a full-length feature coming soon. The film is scheduled for release next year, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. It IS happening, though.

When asked if his son George Michael (played by Michael Cera) would finally get some, Bateman said “Maeby.” Nah, I’m just making that up, but it would have been funny.

Michael Bolton is back

It’s true. One of the cheesiest singers of all time is about to make a comeback, and you wouldn’t believe who’s helping him get back on the charts. This time the When A Man Loves A Woman singer is collaborating with… Lady GaGa? How did this musical alliance come about?

Bolton may have made a name for himself catering to the Baby Boomer set, but did you know that Bolton started out as a heavy metal singer and once toured with Ozzy Osbourne? It’s true.

So can this new Bolton track – Murder My Heart – be the song that puts Bolton back in the ‘cool’ category? You decide. What do you think of the song? Make your comments heard below.

Can there be a better title for a movie than The Men Who Stare at Goats?

Don’t think so. Here is the just-released trailer for the new flick with George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. The film about warrior monks and Jedi psychics looks like it may be one of the most original films to come around in a long time.

Great trailer… this looks must-see. The film opens November 6th.

Funniest talent competition audition ever?

This would never make the air on American Idol. But in the UK, Simon Cowell’s other other talent show, X-Factor, had its second episode on Saturday night and one of the contestants was either really happy to see the audience or is a very big fan of Spinal Tap character Derek Smalls.

The judges’ reactions are priceless. Was this a case of stuffing the ballot box to get votes or does this guy get nervous in a very awkward manner? This may be considered mildly NSFW.
