The Kelowna Fire Museum has kicked off a campaign to raise money for its operating budget this weekend at the Kelowna Farmers’ Market.
Volunteers were selling T-shirts and handing out information about its fundraising programs. They also had the Bickle Chemical Wagon on site.
One program, Buy A Rung, allows donors to have a rung inscripted on one of the 10 ladders that will be placed in highly visible columns spaced throughout the museum main exhibit hall.
There are a maximum of 200 rungs available for inscription during this fundraiser, which closes Oct. 31 this year.
Funds raised go toward the museum’s operating costs, which are budgeted at about $105,000.
The Water Street museum will be home to old fire engines, photos, informational displays and other artifacts from the past.
In addition to antique fire equipment, the museum will be home to the Firehouse Kitchen Coffee Shop, which will assist in generating revenue.
For more information about the donation programs visit the Kelowna Fire Museum website or e-mail them.
