Staccatos is a great place to find gelato and sorbetto, which is a lower-calorie ice cream alternative.
It’s also a spot to get a coffee and light meal if you’re hungry. With paninis, wraps, sandwiches and other fare, any appetite will be sated. They even have a liquor license and serve beer and wine.
Staccatos is located right in Kelowna’s Cultural District as a part of the Rotary Centre for the Arts. It has a patio and indoor seating. Even if you’re wandering around downtown Kelowna and want to grab something to eat or drink, it’s right on the way.
While there are only 12 flavours of gelato and sorbetto on display, owner Michael Lee says he makes about 40 different kinds. The flavours are switched out every few weeks.
Some of the most popular flavours include oreo, blood orange, strawberry, stracciatella, kiwi and hazelnut. They come in cups of four different sizes as well as waffle cone. You can also get it in a to-go container.
What’s great about Staccatos is the fact that its gelato and sorbetto are lower fat/calorie alternatives to ice cream. Lee makes them with less fat and sugar and his gelato maker has a slow rpm, which allows for dense and full flavours.
The family-run business also has a full coffee bar, making use of what Lee says is the newest espresso machine in town. They offer espressos, lattes, iced coffee and blended coffee.
Staccatos, located at 421 Cawston Ave., is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 .m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. It’s also open for events at the RCA.
