One of the best things about Sturgeon Hall is its burger menu.
Look out for the Celine Dion chicken burger, the kd Lang veggie burger, Shania, Rocket and Bourne burgers made with ground chuck and different fixings.
But it’s more than burgers on the menu here. There are also three types of poutine, salads, starters, wraps and more.
And if you’re looking for even more stuff to eat there’s Bordello’s pizzeria upstairs where there’s a huge menu of Italian red (tomato sauce) and white (olive oil) pizzas. If you’re feeling adventurous you can create your own from a long list of different toppings. The catch is you have to sit upstairs to eat from Bordello’s menu.
Sturgeon Hall is a sports bar where people meet to catch the game. There are flat screen TVs within view of every table. Luckily for those of us who don’t follow sports, the Sturgeon keeps the music going.
According to my coworkers, who are more into hockey than I, this is no place for a Maple Leafs fan. There’s even an ongoing counter recording the days since the last Leafs win. The rivalry between the Leafs and Canadiens is very visible in this pub. But it’s not just the Leafs and Canadiens present in the bar, it’s filled with paraphernalia like St. Louis Blues jersey signed and framed in hockey sticks.
In general, the atmosphere at Sturgeon Hall is that of a gathering place. It’s a watering hole where regulars like to meet for a drink and some good food. Often when the front door opens, visitors are craning their necks to see if their friends are already inside.
Don’t forget there’s a nice patio on the street facing Water Street, so if you like to people watch it’s a great place to spend a summer evening.
Sturgeon Hall is located at 1481 Water St.
