Aerosmith's Steven Tyler (photo contributed)
Celebrity Sizzle by Mark Stone
After falling off the stage during a concert in South Dakota on Wednesday night, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler suffered injuries to his head, neck and shoulder. Tyler came up bloody and had to be whisked away by helicopter to a nearby hospital. Tyler was apparently singing Love in an Elevator, and was shaking like a rag doll trying to dance like Billie Jean, but couldn’t run away (run away) from the pain.
You can catch the spill below:
Now that Tyler is recovering from the injuries, several Canadian concert dates may suffer. The Winnipeg show scheduled for tonight has been cancelled, and upcoming dates in Calgary and Regina are questionable. The band is supposed to play in Vancouver next Saturday.
Although a publicist for the tour states that the remaining Canadian dates will go on, ticketholders for the Vancouver show will have to keep checking. If the concert is cancelled, Kelowna.com will let you know about it.
Having seen the video several times, it appears as if Tyler is a little (or a lot) drunk. Concertgoers at this past weekend’s Denver show claim that he was pretty wasted throughout the concert. Isn’t Tyler a tad on the elderly side to keep up with the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle? Even the younger guys of Motley Crue have pretty much cleaned up their act. Time to give up the lifestyle, dude.
What do you think? Is it ok for aging rockers to keep partying like they did in their heyday? Have your say in the comments below.
Rumours of cheating won’t go away for Jillian and Ed
On Wednesday I posted a story about Bachelorette Jillian Harris and how she and fiancé Ed Swiderski were dealing with claims that Ed wasn’t being faithful to her. Seems that these allegations, stemming from a relationship that Swiderski apparently had with a woman named Lindsay Johnson, won’t go away.
Johnson is speaking up, afraid Harris is headed for heartache. “I feel terrible,” says Johnson, who claims to have slept with Swiderski one week after he had proposed to Harris on national TV. “Ed has a way with words and this is what he did to both of us!” Johnson adds, referring to Swiderski’s other other woman, Bethany Steffen.
After speaking with Jillian on several occasions since the show ended, I can only believe that these allegations are completely false and based entirely on greed. Gossip magazines pay good money for rumours like this, and the other women aren’t doing this for free, or as a service to Jillian.
But, let’s just assume for a minute that their allegations are true. What should Jillian do? I’m curious what you think. Girls, ladies, even guys: what would your advice be for her if she were in fact being played here? I’m curious to see what you think. Does anyone even believe these rumours?
RIP John Hughes
It was a very sad day for Hollywood yesterday when legendary film director John Hughes passed away yesterday from a heart attack, suffered while taking a morning walk during a trip to New York City.
Hughes has created quite a legacy: his films include National Lampoon’s Vacation, Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, Home Alone, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, the still-hilarious Ferris Beuller’s Day Off and the always-relevant The Breakfast Club.
I was unaware that over the last ten years or more, Hughes had a reputation as a retired recluse. Despite his reputation, he was credited under a pseudonym for work on both Maid in Manhattan and Drillbit Taylor in the last decade.
The guy had a knack for portraying the life of a teenager in a way nobody else has done before or even now. He will be missed.
Here’s the opening monologue from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a classic that stands the test of time:
Hollywood is watching… GI Joe
Hollywood loves to keep beating itself at the summer box office year after year. The studios always want to see the current year perform better than the last. So far in 2009 since the season began May 1, the total domestic box office revenue stands at $3.3 billion, according to Hollywood.com. This figure is less than a percentage point off 2008’s record-breaking pace.
So the studios are watching the performance of “G.I. Joe” very closely this weekend. The film is the last legitimate popcorn movie of the summer, made for a costly $175 million and predicted by some to take in as much as $50 million domestically this weekend. The film isn’t expected to do well with critics, but critics hated Transformers 2 and we all know how well that film did.
It’ll be interesting to see if people rush out to see it. Look for my review early this evening.
Jimmy Fallon channels his inner Robert Pattinson
This is really funny stuff. I apologize for the quality of the video, but NBC is making it impossible for Canadians to view any of their videos online. All those anonymizers like Hotspot Shield, which used to work wonderfully, no longer do the trick.
Enjoy.

Of all of the ’surprise’ deaths this year, the John Hughes one hit me the hardest. The Breakfast Club was one of the best movies I saw while growing up in the 80s. He really will be missed.
