Rose’s Waterfront Pub is the perfect summer hot spot — regardless of what time of day.
When I went in to meet with owner Rose Sexsmith, it was mid-afternoon and the place was pretty full.
You’d expect a pub to be empty on a beautiful day, but I think the reason it’s busy all the time is due to one main thing: its location.
It’s got a great spot right by the lake. So, not only do you have a beautiful view of the water and mountains, but also for people watching and getting some sun on the patio.
Later this month Sexsmith celebrates 16 years of owning the pub and she told me she believes it has been so successful thanks to the staff, the regulars, the location and the menu.
The food at Rose’s has always been exceptional.
The menu is extensive and will meet any taste – whether you’re looking for a light snack or filling entree, it’s all there.
My only complaint about Rose’s is probably due to it’s popularity – it’s a bit loud. If you want to have a fun place to hang out with your friends go to Rose’s. If you want a quiet, intimate conversation, it’s best to go elsewhere.
Back to the fun – the great thing about this pub is that come nightfall it almost turns into a club. Loud music, drinks flowing and dancing on the corner dancefloor.
Roses is open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. every day during the summer. Find it at 1352 Water St.
