The Okanagan Fudge and Sundae Co. gives me a stomach ache. A deliciously sweet stomach ache that is totally worth it.
I sat down at the window bar and dug into a banana split — and what a split it was. Three scoops of flavoured ice creams,  nuts, sauces and sprinkles all closed up in a hug by a banana.

What made it even better was the view. I could see it all — the lake, the street and the passersby — who shared a grin with my chocolate-smeared smiling face.

Who can’t smile when they are faced with 16 flavours of ice cream, 24 types of soft serve, homemade fudge and a candy shop equivalent to Willy Wonka’s — actually my tooth started aching as soon as I saw the fudge counter, but that’s between me and my dentist.

It’s definitely somewhere I would include in a shopping trip downtown, a day at the beach or a date (only if the guy is paying).
Gina and Eric Wicks, the owners of the shop for the last three years, moved it to the corner of Abbott and Bernard in the last year, which can make it hidden if you’re in a hurry. I actually walked right past it when I went there. But look up, and you’ll see a decorated window listing all the delicacies they offer — ice cream cones, sundaes, slush puppies and more.

And if you get hungry late at night, they have hours accommodating those who are out of bed past 10 p.m. — Sunday-Thursday 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m.
