Kelowna’s famous Ogopogo statue has been photographed by tourists from around the world and Brittany Hansum and Meredith Reynolds may well be in many of the shots.

The two downtown Kelowna conscierges have positioned their city information kiosk by Kerry Park, conveniently near the iconic Ogi, so they can help out with the never-ending photo opportunities.

Since mid-May, the Downtown Kelowna Association has had students Hansum and Reynolds manning the tourist information kiosk to help tourists and locals find their way.

“Sometimes they’re looking for a washroom or an internet cafe,” explained Hansum. “Or they may be looking for wine tours.”

Whatever the need, the two do their best to get the information to them, whether it’s a tourist or a local. Most often people ask what events are happening, particularly downtown.

“You’d be surprised how many people are residents and say ‘I had no idea that was going on,’” said Hansum.

It’s the first year for the consierges, who are an extension of the business patrol and security the downtown association provides. The consierges are recognizable in their bright yellow shirts and will be working in Kerry Park until the end of August.
