Even more sunny weather with above-average temperatures is in store right through the weekend.

“We’re looking good,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Gabor Fricska.

Daytime highs through Sunday are expected to eclipse 30 C, with Friday the hottest, topping out at 33 C. For the weekend, expect a high of 32 C on Saturday and 31 C on Sunday.

The normal daytime high for this time of year is about 26 C, so we’re “ranging five to seven degrees above normal temperatures,” Fricska noted.

He predicts, however, that umbrellas will be in order for Monday. That’s when he sees the ridge of high pressure breaking down, resulting in “fairly widespread showers” and the likelihood of thunderstorms moving through the area.

The long-range forecast calls for sun and a high of 27 C on Tuesday, then a 30 per cent chance of rain on Wednesday with temperatures in the mid-20s.

Other than the precipitation on tap for Monday, Fricska said, we’re “not looking at a real rainy stretch.”
