A man who eluded police capture earlier this week was finally picked up by cops on Wednesday.
Tips from the public led to the arrest of Michael Best at a residence on Gordon Drive.
Best, wanted on a warrant for breach of a conditional sentence order, ran from police on Monday night, escaping a police dog team and the Air 3 helicopter by hiding out in the marshy wetland of Fascieux Creek Park.
The chopper was re-employed for Best’s capture, said RCMP Supt. Bill McKinnon.
“We’ve actually received a number of complaints from people about Air 3 because it hovers over an area,” McKinnon said, adding it’s never sent up without good reason.
“To have a person as notorious as Mr. Best was,” McKinnon continued, “we need to make sure he can’t get away from us.”
