Hundreds of visitors made their way to downtown Kelowna to take in the Canada Day festivities, which ranged from a Made in Canada Marketplace to a model sailboat regatta.
One special event, however, will be visible come fall harvest in the orchards.
The Kelowna Art Gallery’s annual Apple Bin Paint-in saw about 300 participants stop by the gallery on Canada Day to make their mark.
The event has been running for eight years, when the art gallery decided to make something that would be seen in orchards.
The 25 bins are donated by B.C. Tree Fruits and are decorated by participants. Once they are finished they remain on display at the gallery until the end of August, when they are picked up by B.C. Tree Fruits and distributed among orchardists. Several of the bins are also left at the Clement Avenue packing house.
