Today not only marks the country’s birthday, but also the kickoff to Westside Daze.

The fun got started this morning with a pancake breakfast and an international show ‘n’ shine.

The annual event is held in celebration of the West Kelowna community and is open to all ages with events like car shows, free concerts, a children’s fair and West Coast Amusements.

Westside Daze runs from today to Saturday and features crafters, vendors and concessions, tribute shows and live entertainment all day long.

Today visitors can celebrate the nation’s birthday with a Canada Day cake cutting at 3 p.m. and live entertainment all afternoon.

On Saturday the Westside Daze Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and runs until noon and is followed by a kids fair. The parade starts at Bering Road near Zellers and ends at Butt Road.

The end of Westside Daze is Saturday at 10:15 p.m. with fireworks on the lake by Skyline.

A majority of Westside Daze events are held at the Johnson Bentley Memorial Park beside Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre located at 3737 Old Okanagan Hwy.  For more information and a full schedule visit www.westsidedaze.com.
